The design is the work of architect Larissa Domracheva.
Malaya Sadovaya will be split into several zones. The first will be a building at the crossover with Italian Street. Previously, the corner building was the palace of the Elizabethan patron of the arts, Count Shuvalov. It was in this palace that the first lessons of the Academy of Arts took place.
A statue is to be erected to the count here. Alongside, there will be an exhibition of paintings for sale, and the next zone will be for flowers and jewellery. The final zone will be full of summer cafes and restaurants. A floodlit clock and fountain will be erected where Malaya Sadovaya meets Nevsky Prospekt.
The project includes paved and heated sidewalks, floodlighting for all the buildings on the street, and small architectural features.
