<BR>The work of local programmers at ZAO Ectaco SPb has been acknowledged in Las Vegas, at the Consumer Electronics Show (7-10 January 1999), the world's largest domestic and trade electronics show. <BR>The world's first language pocket microcomputer, the Language Teacher ER586HT PARTNER, was recognised as the best device in its class. Ectaco SPb, formed in 1993, is one of the ten branches of US company Ectaco Inc., a manufacturer of electronic translators. <BR>At Las Vegas, an international jury evaluated the products of 1800 leading world manufacturers. The microcomputer Language Teacher ER586HT PARTNER was admitted as the best in the 'mobile office' category. Ectaco SPb's specialists unabashedly call its specifications unique. <BR>For the first time, such a compact device contains the automatic text translation program Sokrat, developed by Moscow company Arsenal. The model's vocabulary has been increased to a million words, twice that of previous Language Teacher models. The microcomputer has more than 170 functions, including the ability to link up to the Internet, to receive and send electronic mail, and to send and receive graphic and textual information by fax.
