<BR>Control over the banking sector was the subject of particular attention at a select meeting between the RF Federal Tax Police and the head of the RF State Tax Service (GNS), Georgy Boos.<BR>"In order to help the banking system, a register of conscientious banks will be created in each region, with whom the tax police will cooperate in their work," announced State Tax Inspection (GNI) spokesman Viktor Orlov after the meeting.<BR>At the GNI St Petersburg press centre, it was announced that the situation in the banking sector is extremely serious at present. In September, GNI St Petersburg checked 109 commercial banks - which amounts to 75% of the total number of city banks listed by the tax organs. 1870 cases of delays on payments totalling 75.1m roubles were identified, including delays on payments to the federal budget totalling 51.6m. In 1450 cases, payments were delayed for more than 60 days.
