KUGI Chairman German Greff Moves To Moscow

Vice Governor and City Property Committee (KUGI) Chairman German Gref is leaving the city for Moscow to become the first deputy minister for state property.

<BR>Vice Governor and City Property Committee (KUGI) Chairman German Gref is leaving the city for Moscow to become the first deputy minister for state property.<BR>According to information so far made available, KUGI's current first deputy chairman, Andrei Likhachev, will take the chairman's place.<BR>Rumours of German Greff's promotion first appeared in autumn 1997, and started again two months ago. <BR>The subject of the rumours categorically denied even the theoretical possibility of his departure to Moscow, until the last moment. At a city government conference on Monday, St Petersburg Governor Valdimir Yakovlev thanked German Greff for his good work.<BR>German Greff is 34, and has been KUGI chairman for about a year since the murder of Mikhail Manevich.<BR>Andrei Likhachev began work at KUGI in autumn 1997, after leaving his post as head of the Petrodvorets Region Administration.
