<BR>Andrei Ananov is to invest $1m in a prestigious jewelry workshop and shop at Serebranny Ryady, the small arcade on Nevsky Prospect. <BR>An design by Ananov and his company's chief designer, Irina Alekseevna, includes glazing the arches of the arcade's first floor, thus expanding the shop's floor area by one and a half times. Ananov plans to complete the project before the end of 1998, without requiring any outside investment. Ananov has been granted permission to glaze over the arches to make a long, narrow gallery, despite the intention of the original architect, Giacomo Quarenghi, that the arcade remain open.
