<BR>The Russian-American company PPI, 65% of which is owned by Gillette, and 35% by Leninets, will manage the $40m Gillette factory whose foundation was ceremonially laid last week. Until now PPI has been in charge of Gillette's and Leninets' joint production on Leninets territory.<BR>Initially Gillette wanted to build the factory independently, an approach Leninets opposed, but with the help of their St Petersburg partner PPI, the project went ahead smoothly.<BR>The new factory will produce Sputnik, Gillette and Wilkinson Sword products for the Third World. Gillette also plans to add a neighbouring shaving cosmetics factory.
