A Ford Scorpio was shot at from a Kalashnikov automatic by an unknown person on the morning of August 25. In the foreign car were three men and one woman. The investigating police found the driver and the passengers of the Ford living. One of the men in the car, Sergei Miskarev, showed the police documents that identified him as one of the founders of the "Rhythms of the City" publication. The other two men identified themselves as the publisher's security guards and the woman as the publisher's wife. A member of the Internal Affairs Department and the Department of Organized Crime's press service informed the press that the two government organs have information that Sergei Miskarev is a member of the "Malishev" organized crime gang and goes by the nickname "Broiler". At the same time the former editor of "Rhythms of the City" Vyacheslav Chichin confirmed that he definitely knows that Sergei Miskarev is a founder of the newspaper. According to a representative from the television department of the Internal Affairs Department's press service, Valinor Kuzin, having seen the scene of the crime, the criminal shot at relatively close range (nearly 10 meters) although he didn't seriously injur anyone. Having shot out an entire clip, the criminal abandoned his weapon on the territory of the nearest kindergarten and vanished from the scene of the crime. Another of Miskarev's security guards who was in another automobile decided not to risk chasing after the killer because he himself was without a weapon.
