Finns To Heat City Centre

The results of a tender to supply two modular boiler stations to heat a section of the historical city centre have been announced. The winner has been named as Finnish company KPA Unicon OY.

<BR>The results of a tender to supply two modular boiler stations to heat a section of the historical city centre have been announced. The winner has been named as Finnish company KPA Unicon OY.<BR>Block 130 is bordered by Zhukovskogo, Mayakovskogo and Vosstaniya Streets, and Nevsky Prospect. Work is being carried out here as part of a pilot project, financed by the World Bank, to reconstruct the historical city centre. <BR>At present, houses are heated by an out-dated boiler station which is to be removed in 1999, to be replaced by two modern modular stations, one with a capacity of 5.5MWt, the second of 8.5MWt. Both stations are to be fuelled by gas. 13 companies from Russia, Germany, Finland and the USA took part in the tender.
