Realtors Lyubimy Gorod (LG) have begun a procedure for installing exclusive ground floor entrances in the city's historical centre.
The idea involves the purchase of ground floor properties, registering them as non-residential and obtaining official permission to build a separate entrance, making the property more attractive to business tenants. According to architects involved in the procedure, the Baltic Union of Realtors (BSR) supports the agency's idea and has decided to finance work even in the absence of definite clients.
Local businessmen have discovered the worth of buying premises to let them later. LG Director Irina Moshkalova says that such schemes break even in about two years.
The first project presented for examination to the Expert Scientific Council For Preserving St Peterburg's Cultural Heritage inluded new doors in the facades of buildings at the corner of Vladimirsky Prospect and Grafsky Pereulok. The council agreed in principle to allow separate entrances and to the installation of additional staircases.
